We used to have a plethora of goalkeepers to choose from.
Pickford would have been nowhere near the England squad 30-40 years ago.

Mark Ward was a favourite of mine he worked his socks off in every game.
Going to an evening with wardie in March... think about 12 of us going... should be a laugh....

Wardie was an exceptional player. He was the one I picked out in my very first game over UP. His range of passing was second to none and he had the heart of a lion for such a small fella.
Was lucky enough to get to know him pretty well whilst he was with us and followed him and went to watch him wherever he played after.

Keith Robson and Pat Holland for me, most definitely. Another was Geoff Pike.
All three have been slated on here, and also then, when playing, and most undeservedly, in my opinion. For every Brooking and Bonds we have needed players like the above three in the team at various times.

I am too young to remember him, but what do the older WHOers feel about Keith Robson? He doesn't get many mentions when talking about that era, but what I have seen of him he looked pretty decent.
